Nowadays, evaporative air coolers are very popular around the world, especially in those countries, in which the weather is very hot, arid and dry, such as the Southeast Asian countries, India, Pakistan, Mid-east Countries, etc. In hot summer, people have a great need for air conditioning.

The shape of mordern evaporative air coolers is more beautiful and the design for them is also  changing day by day. But how many people know its history? Actually, mordern evaporative air coolers can trace thier lineage to ancient Egypt. As we all know, the weather in Egypt was very hot, even scorching. It was a must for them to find a suitable way to cool the air off. However, in ancient times, the technology was not so developed as nowadays. How did they cool the natural air? At last, they found a simple but very efficient way to cool the air off, it was water evaporation. People hung blankets soaked in water across the doors of their homes. But for the Pharaohs and the royalty, servants would be ordered to fan them across jugs of water. When hot natural air passes over water or goes through it, the hot air cools off.

Afterwards, in 1920's, people in America also adopted this way to cool down hot air, especially on hot summer nights. Shortly after that, the swamp coolers were invented and became soon famous for their simple and effective cooling temperature by means of water evaporation, which is actually a natural process.
